Can I Use Massage Oil as Lubricant?

Can I use massage oil as a lubricant and vice versa? This is a question we get asked an awful lot and the answer is a big fat definite no. Massage oils are produced to be used externally on the skin. They are often scented with perfumes or other fragrances.

Whilst oils are fine and soothing for a massage, they could irritate the delicate private area of a woman.

Another reason why it is not a good idea to use massage oil as lubricant is because oils can break down the material of condoms. If you are using condoms you don’t want to risk weakening your protection.

Lubricant is specially designed for your most private and intimate areas. It will help to make sex comfortable and even enhance sensation. Whilst lubricant is designed to be long lasting when used correctly, it could turn into a sticky mess if trying to use it on the skin as a massage oil.

Some products do offer a 2 in 1 solution. If they are specifically designed for this purpose then you can rest assured that they will be safe to use for lovemaking.
